” I wish to express my protest by dedicating my medal which are the only things I have to the victim’s family at RG Kar Hospital. This is my way of making a stand.”
Sushmita Debnath from Udaynarayanpur, Howrah, has gifted the nation a moment of pride. She won dual medals at the Asia-Pacific Yoga Championships held in Sri Lanka. Sushmita had previously created a buzz by winning three medals at an international yoga competition in Dubai. However, to participate in that competition, she had to mortgage her mother’s jewelry to secure a loan. Despite qualifying for the Asia-Pacific Yoga Championship in Sri Lanka, there was uncertainty about her trip due to financial constraints. In this challenging situation, Sushmita received support from the general public, with many offering financial help and encouragement. She did not disappoint them. By winning dual medals in Sri Lanka, she honored everyone’s trust in her. Sushmita won gold in the Artistic Solo category at the Asia-Pacific Yoga Championships in Sri Lanka and silver in the Traditional Event. She shared that winning gold in the Artistic Solo category and silver in the Traditional Event was a result of the tremendous support she received. Determined to win the medal for everyone who stood by her, she entered the competition with that vow.
Congratulations Sushmita! We are all so proud of you!
