Every woman in this world has faced some form of mental or physical abuse from the opposite gender at some point in her life. So why are so many people across the state, nation and the world outraged and raising their voices in protest against the R G Kar incident where a lady Doctor on duty was brutally raped and murdered ? This rape, this murder, was not just of the doctor; it was an attack on the thoughts and safety of every woman, every human being.
We are writing in pain and shuddering in fear to think about the heinous crime against the Medico at her workplace and it indeed raises a serious question in all our minds “Where am I safe?”
Yet, even in that vast darkness, as we are about to be engulfed by the abyss of such depraved mentalities, we are returning to the light. A single weak flame of a candle cannot dispel all the darkness, but that light can be seen from a very far distance, even in the most intense darkness. Let that light ignite within all of us. Only this light can rise against all injustices, and it can burn away the demonic tendencies within humans. Let the candles of the silent marches on the streets become the light of our hearts. Let us strive to become true humans, not just in body, but in mind and consciousness
