Poet-Literary-Researcher-Translator-Professor. Dr. Jiban Krishna Debnath was born in 1939 in Dhaka district of present-day Bangladesh. From 1971 to 2000 he taught Bengali for 30 years at Nagaon College in Assam. Professor. He did his doctorate from Guwahati University under the supervision of Dr Deepak Sen and his research paper was based on “The antiquity and Origin of Nath Yoga and the effects on mediaeval Bengali literature”. He is the first in the Nath Yogi community to achieve this rare feat of getting a doctorate for his research work in Nath literature. He has written innumerable stories, short stories, fictions, and travelogues. DR Nath is a special life member of Assam Banga Yogi Sammilani and a regular contributor to Yogisakha. DR Sabhapati Nath, Secretary ABYS during his recent trip to Guwahati, Assam visited Dr Jiban Nath and felicitated him for his achievements.
